【摘要】:Thistestmethodwasdevelopedtomeasuremoreaccuratelythediagonaltensile(shear)strengthofmasonrythanwaspossiblewithotheravailablemethods.Thespecimensizewasselectedasbeingthesmallestthatwouldbereasonablyrepresentativeofafull-sizemasonryassemblageandthatwouldpermittheuseoftestingmachinessuchasareusedbymanylaboratories.Note18212;Asaresearchtestmethodusedonlyforthepurposeofevaluatingtheeffectsofvariablessuchastypeofmasonryunit,mortar,workmanship,etc.,asmallersizespecimencouldbeusediftheavailabletestingequipmentwillnotaccommodatea1.2-m(4-ft)squarespecimen.However,thereisalackofexperimentaldatathatwouldpermitanevaluationoftheeffectofspecimensizeontheshearstrengthortopermitacorrelationbetweentheresultsofsmall-scalespecimentestsandlargerspecimens.1.1Thistestmethodcoversdeterminationofthediagonaltensileorshearstrengthof1.2by1.2-m(4by4-ft)masonryassemblagesbyloadingthemincompressionalongonediagonal(seeFig.1),thuscausingadiagonaltensionfailurewiththespecimensplittingapartparalleltothedirectionofload.1.2AnnexA1providesrequirementsregardingthedeterminationofthediagonal-tensionstrengthofmasonryundercombineddiagonal-tensionandcompressiveloading.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareprovidedforinformationonly.Thisstandardmayinvolvehazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
