【摘要】:TheA17.1SafetyCodeforElevatorsandEscalatorsiswrittenbyacommitteecomprisedoftechnicallyqualifiedpersonswhodemonstrateaconcernandcompetenceinthesubjectwithintheA17Committee'sscopeandawillingnesstoparticipateintheworkofthecommittee.TheA17StandardsCommitteeisrestrictedtoamaximumof35membersofwhichnomorethanonethirdcanbefromthesameinterestcategory.Inaddition,thereareover250membersservingontheRegulatoryAdvisoryCouncil,NationalInterestReviewGroup,TechnicalCommittees,AdministrativeCommittees,andAdHocCommittees.ASMErecognizesthattheCodemustbewritteninaformthatissuitableforenforcementbystate,municipal,andotherjurisdictionalauthorities;andassuch,thetextisconcise,withoutexamplesorexplanations.ItisalsorecognizedthatthisCodecannotcovereverysituationnorcanitcovernewtechnologybeforeitisdevelopedandfieldexperienceisgained.Forthesereasons,ASMEdeterminedthatahandbookwouldbeusefultoaugmenttheCodebyprovidingacommentaryontheCoderequirements.ThisHandbookcontainstherationaleforCoderequirements;explanations,examples,andillustrationsoftheimplementationsoftherequirements;plusexcerptsfromothernationallyrecognizedstandardswhicharereferencedbytheCode.ThisinformationisintendedtoprovidetheusersoftheASMEA17.1Codewithabetterunderstandingof,andappreciationfor,therequirementscontainedintheCode.Thenetresultshouldbeincreasedsafetyforthemanufacturers,installers,maintainers,consultantsandusersoftheequipmentcoveredbytheASMEA17.1Code.
