【摘要】:Sodarshavefoundwideapplicationsfortheremotemeasurementofwindandturbulenceprofilesintheatmosphere,particularlyinthegapbetweenmeteorologicaltowersandthelowerrangegatesofwindprofilingradars.Thesodarx2019;sfarfieldacousticpowerisalsousedforrefractiveindexcalculationsandtoestimateatmosphericstability,heatflux,andmixedlayerdepth(1-5).Sodarsareusefulforthesepurposesbecauseofstronginteractionbetweensoundwavesandtheatmospherex2019;sthermalandvelocitymicro-structurethatproduceacousticreturnswithsubstantialsignal-to-noiseratios(SNR).ThereturnedechoesareDoppler-shiftedinfrequency.Thisfrequencyshift,proportionaltotheradialvelocityofthescatteringsurface,providesthebasisforwindmeasurement.Advantagesofferedbysodarwindsoundingtechnologyincludereasonablylowprocurement,operating,andmaintenancecosts,noemissionsofeye-damaginglightbeamsorelectromagneticradiationrequiringfrequencyclearances,andadjustablefrequenciesandpulselengthsthatcanbeusedtooptimizedataqualityatdesiredrangesandrangeresolutions.Whenproperlysitedandusedwithadequatesamplingmethods,sodarscanprovidecontinuouswindandturbulenceprofileinformationatheightrangesfromafewtensofmeterstooverakilometrefortypicalaveragingperiodsof1to60minutes.1.1Thisguidedescribestheapplicationofacousticremotesensingformeasuringatmosphericwindandturbulenceprofiles.Itincludesasummaryofthefundamentalsofatmosphericsounddetectionandranging(sodar),adescriptionofthemethodologyandequipmentusedforsodarapplications,factorstoconsiderduringsiteselectionandequipmentinstallation,andrecommendedproceduresforacquiringvalidandrelevantdata.1.2Thisguideappliesprincipallytopulsedmonostaticsodartechniquesasappliedtowindandturbulencemeasurementintheopenatmosphere,althoughmanyofthedefinitionsandprinciplesarealsoapplicabletobistaticconfigurations.Thisguideisnotdirectlyapplicabletoradio-acousticsoundingsystems(RASS),ortomographicmethods.
